The Spa Industry is looking for qualified staff!

The demand for highly trained and competent Massage Therapists, Estheticians and Spa Management personnel has never been greater. As a matter of fact, in every major industry study over the past 10 years, industry leaders worldwide have identified the number one challenge facing the industry to be the lack of properly qualified staff.

Established in 1976, Elmcrest College is the first Registered Private Career College in North America wholly dedicated to curriculum for the spa and wellness industry. With ground-breaking training in Massage Therapy, Esthetics and three levels of Spa Management, there’s no better foundation to prepare you for a successful, rewarding career within this growing industry.

Elmcrest College not only understands the health & wellness industry but is a recognized leader in it. It is through our constant involvement with today’s health & wellness leaders and operators that we get to hear and understand the changing needs of the industry. In turn, this allows us to provide the most up-to-date curriculum to our students, preparing them for successful career opportunities both nationally and internationally.

FACULTY OF MASSAGE THERAPY

One of the goals of Elmcrest College’s Massage Therapy Diploma Program is to prepare our students for success at the Provincial Registration Examinations held with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO).

Elmcrest's core curriculum of 2,315 hours exceeds the 2,200 hour CMTO requirement which means Elmcrest students learn advanced techniques and are well-prepared to write the certification examinations from the CMTO and are well-prepared for their careers.

As a result, the Professional Spa Therapist Diploma Program is much more then just an esthetics program. In addition to courses that teach proper techniques in manicure/pedicure, facials, waxing, cosmetology and make-up artistry, Elmcrest College teaches advanced modalities such as hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, relaxation massage, mud and body wraps, salt glows and human anatomy. Our unique Introduction to Business course covers career & professional development (communications, résumé writing & interview skills) as well as an introduction to the spa industry. Our Student Clinic gives you practical experience so you’re work-ready when you graduate. In total, the program is 1120 hours in length with 245 hours devoted to student clinic.

Graduates of the Professional Spa Therapist Program may work in the following settings or capacities:

- day, resort or destination spas
- cruise ships
- private business
- hair salons

FACULTY OF SPA MANAGEMENT

Elmcrest College is the first school in Canada to offer spa management programs for all levels from front desk customer service skills to management. Elmcrest College, through its association with the Elmwood Spa and local & international involvement with the spa & wellness industry, understands what it takes to be successful in the spa management, operations and customer service field and incorporates this understanding throughout all training programs. The curriculum provides knowledge of the spa industry, job-ready experience and a variety of management skills needed for this rapidly growing and demanding job market.

Spa Manager/Director Diploma Program

The Spa Manager/Director Program covers the entire scope of the spa management curriculum. It provides the skills necessary to meet the daily and long-term challenges of management within today’s spa environment. Participants will learn how to take a strategic role and provide long-term vision and drive. Students learn how to create and communicate the company’s vision while motivating staff to carry it out.

Spa Leadership Certificate Program

The Spa Leadership program develops the skills required to manage day-to-day spa operations. This training provides a student with the ability to meet daily challenges in a manner that reinforces the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Customer Service Professional Diploma Program

As a client’s first and last contact is usually with a Customer Service Professional, it is critical that this individual has the skills necessary to interact with the client in a way that reinforces the unique experience offered by the individual spa.
